Michael Bach

Michael Bach

Michael Bach studied physics, computer science and psychology in Bochum and received the Ph.D. degree from University of Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany. His Ph.D. work dealt with single- and multiunit neuron recordings in animal models.

Over three decades he headed the Section Functional Vision Research as Professor at the Eye Center, University of Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany, and he was President of the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology in Vision (ISCEV) for eight years. He has published 260 peer-reviewed papers in various fields of human vision. He has authored a widely used computer-based visual acuity test (“FrACT”) and built the website on Visual Phenomena and Optical Illusions offering 120 visual demonstrations and online experiments.
