Kristel Knaepen

Kristel Knaepen was born in Aalst, Belgium, in 1982. She received the M.S. degree in rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Brussels, Belgium, in 2005. In 2008, she joined the Department of Human Physiology and started her Ph.D. degree on the ALTACRO project (Automated Locomotor Training using an Actuated Compliant Robotic Orthosis) conducting research on the physiological aspects of human–robot interaction during walking. In 2012, she started working on the European FP7-ICT-2011-7 CYBERLEGs (The CYBERnetic Lower-Limb Cognitive Ortho-prosthesis).

Currently, her main field of interest is the neurophysiological assessment of human–robot interaction mainly through electroencephalography.
